Welcome

Welcome to the Alpha Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Sorority at Georgetown University!

Delta Phi Epsilon is a professional sorority dedicated to promoting women in international affairs. Delta Phi Epsilon aims for intellectual education that will facilitate growth and encourage women to pursue careers in international relations. By this we are not merely referring to the Foreign Service but extending the definition to include careers in diplomacy, banking, education, consulting, journalism, non-governmental organizations, inter-governmental organizations, multi-national corporations, law, and much more.

Through professional development and personal growth, our sisterhood promotes participation and leadership of women in Foreign Service. Together we serve the community, explore world cultures, and build professional and social relationships. We share ideas and experiences in order to understand and stimulate unique, yet great, minds.

Letter from the President:

Hello everyone and welcome to our site! My name is Lara Markarian and I am honored to serve as the president of the Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Sorority Alpha Chapter for the 2012-2013 school year! Four years ago, although I had only been a Georgetown University student for three short weeks, I decided to pledge for DPE and I can honestly say I have not looked back since. Joining DPE is like committing oneself to a lifetime of sisterhood, support, friendship, and love… a lifetime of built-in travel buddies, closets to borrow clothes from, chicken noodle soup on sick days, laughs, and memories that will never be forgotten (or repeated). Every single day I am astonished at the incredible achievements of every one of my sisters; I often look around in awe during our meetings as I soak in the sheer beauty, kindness, intelligence, and drive of the women who sit around me. Our alumnae are equally extraordinary as they pursue their passions both domestically and internationally in some of the most influential organizations worldwide. I am so proud to say that I am a Delta Phi Epsilon sister and the sisterhood will always and forever be an important part of my identity and my life.

Before you leave, please take a minute to look through our site and see for yourself some of the amazing accomplishments of our sisterhood. Feel free to leave a comment; we’d love to hear from you! Thank you for your love and support!

Sincerely,

Lara Markarian
